Acrylic paint and ink on 16″x20″ canvas
This painting arose when I was compelled to paint with brighter colors, especially yellow. Eventually as each color appeared, each came with its own style: the deep blues are over a crackle medium so are very matte; the bright reds are generously splattered and vibrant; the deep greens are both paint and ink to acheive something of a seascape effect; the vibrant yellows suggest a sunrise or sunset. The vertical ink lines came last, and suggested to me something, or someone, rising to the heavens, hence “The Ascension”
